Bidean an Eòin Deirg, Loch Monar
As I fought my way into the wind across the flat top of Sgùrr a’ Chaorachain, I was blasted in the face by icy spin drift, kicked up by a gusting tempest. It was mid-April and I was climbing three Munros in a remote area of the Highlands between Strathcarron and Loch Monar, on a long weekend trip to Torridon. As I was descending the second of my three objectives, I advanced towards the Munro top (above 3000ft but not designated a stand alone Munro) of Biden an Eòin Deirg. Partially lit by a mercurially ephemeral sun and with dark, moody clouds above, I tried to balance the scene as best I could with some rocky foreground interest, then clicked the shutter sharpish before my fingers froze off!
