Ben Nevis
Chilling out in my campervan with my friend Connor after a long day in the west coast hills, I glanced out the window and saw the light show begin. Parked up on the minor road between Fort William and Loch Arkaig, we had a prime vantage point overlooking the Great Glen and south to Ben Nevis. Towards ‘The Ben’, intense, low angle sidelight had suddenly set the flanks of Cairn Mor Dearg (Nevis’s lesser known neighbour) alight in a burning orange colour. I quickly reached for my camera and hurried down the quiet lane to get a clear view of the illuminated mountains to take an image. Not long after, western clouds snuffed out the light, making me feel lucky to capture this fleeting scene.
